• McKinney City Council adopts 20-year comprehensive plan

The McKinney City Council adopted the city’s ONE McKinney 2040 Comprehensive Plan, which will provide policy and vision for future development and master planning for things like land use, parks, transportation, economic vitality and other quality of life issues for the next 20 years. The city is currently 68 square miles in size; however, the ultimate growth area for the city is roughly 116 square miles.

The city relied heavily on public input to guide the development of the comprehensive plan and used a variety of mechanisms including community input sessions, open houses, charrettes, and online forums to gather feedback and solve problems.
