• Created in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mission of the MRC is to unify the foodservice sector in McKinney to leverage resources and share operational and strategic best practices. One of the first things the MRC did was adopt the McKinney Promise – developed by the Texas Restaurant Association. It’s a promise that the restaurants make to their guests – and in turn – a promise that the guests make to the restaurant.

“I think we’re living in a new normal,” said Lisa Hermes, President and CEO of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce. “While the public is dealing with their comfort level dining in restaurants, we are helping spread the word of all the safety protocols our businesses are implementing to ensure the safety of their employees and customers."

Goals and Strategies for Reopening Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic

    • To unify as a business sector to enhance and promote public health and safety in our drinking and dining establishments… by collaboratively developing standards and protocols for safely re-opening restaurants and bars in McKinney that leverage the guidance of the Texas Restaurant Association, National Restaurant Association and other best practices.
    • To ensure that the public feels comfortable and enticed to join us (in-house)… by developing a cohesive campaign and marketing materials to emphasize to the public our dedication to safety.
    • To resuscitate and grow the profitability of our sector and to enhance the impact of our sector on McKinney’s development… by establishing a mechanism for routine collaboration and communication with one another and with community partners to share resources, lessons learned, and opportunities for success.

The McKinney Restaurant Council meets approximately once per month.  If you are representing an area restaurant, please contact kblank@mckinneychamber.com to receive the zoom invitation information.
