• FOOD FOR FRIENDS: Help Fight Hunger for McKinney Families in Crisis

FOOD INSECURITY:  the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient amount of affordable nutritious food.

    • Food Insecurity is experienced by 1 out of 6 Americans.
    • That includes 4.8 million Texans.
    • 1 in 6 food-insecure households in North Texas is home to a veteran.
    • And it affects 1 in every 4 children in North Texas – more than 300,000 children.
In 2016, the Community Food Pantry of McKinney provided food for 93,408 meals, which includes feeding 3308 children.

YES.  We have food-insecure households in McKinney, Texas.

As we enter this season of giving, McKinney residents have an opportunity to help make the holidays better for families fighting food insecurity right here in our own community.  The Leadership McKinney (LM) Alumni Network along with sponsor UTTER Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors will again hold their annual food drive to fill the shelves at our pantry.

To meet the needs, alums will be collecting 18-ounce jars of peanut butter. The community can drop off peanut butter beginning November 15 through December 14 at the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, located at 400 W. Virginia Street. The goal for the peanut butter drive: 2000 jars!

The Community Food Pantry of McKinney was formed 40 years ago and is an all-volunteer organization that provides food to families in crisis in the McKinney area.
    • Those in crisis are people who have lost their jobs.
    • Those in crisis are those who have lost income due to illness, medical bills, or maybe a death in the family.
    • Those in crisis are people who have had an addition to their family and cannot make ends meet.
    • Those in crisis are the hungry in our community for whatever reason.

Help the Leadership McKinney Alumni Network and sponsor UTTER Wealth Management Group help our families in crisis, one jar of peanut butter at a time.  Give today for our community.  Give FOOD FOR FRIENDS!
