• McKinney Chamber's Priorities for the 87th Texas Legislative Session

The 87th Texas Legislative Session begins January 12, 2021. Here’s a few things you should know as the state begins to conduct its business.

    1. Lawmakers are deciding how to handle COVID Safety protocols. This past week the Texas Preservation Board announced it would open the Capitol on Monday with limited hours only one entrance open for visitors. Masks will be required to be worn and no tours can be scheduled. Also this week, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced plans for how the Senate will conduct business including requiring all Senators who will attend opening day to be tested. 2. The McKinney Chamber Board of Directors approved the Chamber’s list of Legislative Priorities for the upcoming session. These include funding for public education and workforce development investment as well as funding for key transportation projects. For the complete list of priorities click here.

    3. In a regional collaborative effort, the McKinney Chamber is part of the Regional Chamber Coalition formed through the North Texas Commission. For a list of the shared legislative priorities click here.
