• Ambassador Spotlight - Miranda Barhydt

What is the name of your business and where are you located?
Community Impact Newspaper Company - McKinney, Texas

Give us a brief description of your business.
Community Impact Newspaper distributes hyperlocal news and information to millions of local residents and business owners each day online and monthly by mail. Our mission is to build communities of informed citizens and thriving businesses through the collaboration of a passionate team. My role in the company is to partner with our local business owners to help grow their business through our print & digital advertising platforms based on their goals; connecting the businesses with our readers.

    Why are you an Ambassador?
I am an Ambassador because I strongly believe in our community’s growth and the importance of supporting both new and existing businesses. When we show up to a Ribbon Cutting or visit someone new on a Goodwill Call, you can see how the Chamber is truly a supporting resource to the community. Each day is a new day to network, make a friend, and lift up our businesses. There is a natural affinity between our Community Newspaper and a Community Chamber, we believe in the mission of growing McKinney!

Tell us about your involvement in the Community?
Along with my Ambassador role, I enjoy volunteering in the Community with my daughter. We always support Make a Difference Day and stay involved in local organizations we are passionate about. I’ve always been of the mindset “Hear a need; Fill a need” as there are underserved areas of our community that need our help. We currently volunteer at the Heard Museum during the year and I’m looking forward to spending time helping at Community Garden Kitchen once it’s built and open.

    What are your hobbies?
I am an adventurous soul, down for exploring all types of activities. Some of my favorite hobbies are hiking, experimenting in the kitchen, writing travel guides, and yoga. I’m also an avid researcher, so if you’re curious about random things like beekeeping or how to make candy canes… Just ask!

Can you share a little about yourself and your family?
I grew up in the Dallas area, involved in family, church, and sports. I have 3 younger brothers and a younger sister. I’m approaching 10 years living in McKinney, where I happily enjoy life with my 11-year-old daughter and her turtle Ralph. My daughter is starting Middle School, which means I’m starting middle school again (seemed easier the first time).

I strive to put out only positive energy, and I’m quick to smile at everyone! I’m also pretty silly and thoroughly enjoy cheesy jokes.
