I hope this summer has been enjoyable and productive with a little fun thrown in! We have had a few great events that I hope you were able to take advantage of, and a few upcoming events to make sure are marked on your calendar.

Recap:

Our annual Cheers to Charity event in May proved to be a success in raising funds for Embrace Texas, the charity MYP has selected to support. Thank you to our event host Tupps Brewery, The Cadillac Pizza and The Yard for providing the food, and our numerous donors, sponsors, and attendees.

Because of the generous support of many MYP members and community partners, MYP was able to donate over $5,000 to Embrace Texas. Embrace connects willing hands with opportunities to serve children in foster, adoptive and kinship care. Thank you to all of the amazing donors! Check out some of the recent photos below. We will have more serving opportunities as we enter the fall and winter months as well – be on the lookout for details!

In June we toured StatLab, a fast-growing histology consumable provider located in McKinney. MYP members toured the facility and warehouse and learned valuable management and leadership skills to implement at their own companies.

In July we had the opportunity to serve foster and adoptive families through the Embrace Texas evening of fun with the Frisco RoughRiders. MYP assisted with the tailgate and saw many smiling faces throughout the evening!

In August, Bruce Arfsten, a professional speaker, trainer and coach facilitated an Everything DiSC Lunch ’n Learn to help us not only identify and maximize our own management style, but to gain awareness of the styles of others around us for better synergies and efficiencies.

• Joint Happy Hour “MEET UP” with Leadership McKinney Alumni Network and Women’s Alliance of McKinney, September 17, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., on the patio at Sugarbacon.
• MYP is teaming up with the Leadership McKinney Alumni Network to host a dynamic Professional Development Summit on October 24, 7:30 AM – 2:00 p.m. at the Collin Higher Education Center. This is an event that will surely take you to the next level in communication and leadership. Don’t miss out! Save the Date! (Sponsorships available. Contact Deb Fitzgerald for more details.)
• “Friendsgiving” Happy Hour @ The Pub, November 12 @ 5:30 PM

Stay on the lookout for information forthcoming on joining the MYP Advisory Committee, which is responsible for planning and implementing the programs of MYP. Applications will open soon.
