I attended the 2019 Chamber Annual Meeting last week. They presented a recap of programs and accomplishments from last year and it was a great reminder of the tremendous impact the McKinney Chamber of Commerce has on our community. The common thread captured in the success of the chamber was this: It was only possible through the hard work of a great chamber staff and all the community volunteers when we all rally together. As I looked around the room and at those being honored on stage or flashing in pictures on the big screen, I noticed that the vast majority of those great volunteers and leaders in the room were Leadership McKinney Alumni.
We have such a great community of alumni following the chamber’s mission of leading, connecting, and empowering those around them to advance business and community excellence. I am so excited and honored to be a part of this group of amazing leaders.
As alumni, we were all hand selected and given the opportunity to go through this great year-long program, equipped with knowledge and new connections to help us be great leaders in our home, workplace and community. Yet, Leadership McKinney is not about a one-year experience, it is about pulling you into a community of other strong and impactful people invested in making our great city better each day. If you have not connected with the Alumni community after your graduation then you are missing the true mission, opportunities, and support of the program. We believe 2019 is going to be a huge year for our alumni group and we want you to be a part of it.
We have already started the year with the largest event we have ever hosted, our happy hour event at Local Yocal. This was a great night – More than 60 alumni reconnected with classmates, alumni friends and also made new connections. Did you miss it? No worries, we have a lot of activities planned for the rest of the year: Top level professional development events, quality-networking opportunities and of course, our community support events.

Lastly, I want to let you know that several brand new members have joined the Leadership McKinney Alumni Committee and this year’s committee is made up of amazing people who cannot wait to make this year the best for Leadership McKinney Alumni yet!
