Jim Lites is an American sports executive who currently serves as President of the NHL’s Dallas Stars. He was formerly the president of Hicks Sports Marketing Group, and president of the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball. Lites was briefly President and COO of the Phoenix Coyotes from March through December 2002.
Lites is reputed to be one the finest administrators in professional sports. He is responsible for all aspects of the Dallas Stars hockey and business operations and reports directly to owner Tom Gaglardi. Lites also returns as an Alternate Governor on the NHL’s Board of Governors, a role he held from 1982-2007. Over the years, Lites has served on the Board’s marketing, broadcasting, expansion and game committees.
Lites earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Wayne State University Law School.
Justine Sweeny, part of the Stars Corporate Communications team, shared some details about the summer and upcoming seasons.
“This summer has been very busy on and off the ice,” Sweeny says. The Dallas Stars are bringing new entertainment packages to the fans for this season at American Airlines Center with unique offers that include great seats, food, beer/wine/sodas and a numbered parking spot that is all yours! The in-game experience is being enhanced with new music, graphics, intermission programming and fun, interactive programs.”
“On the ice,” Sweeny continues, “fans will find a young, hard-working team that is working to bring the Stanley Cup to Dallas under the leadership of our new owner Tom Gaglardi, GM Joe Nieuwendyk and President Jim Lites.”
Sweeny says development camp ended last week and the players enjoyed a day in McKinney at the Michael Johnson Performance Center teaching the Boys & Girls Club of McKinney how to play street hockey.
