    About Us

Carter BloodCare is an independent, community blood center providing transfusion resources to more than 200 medical facilities in 50-plus counties of North, Central and East Texas. The nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization is one of the largest blood programs in Texas, delivering more than 440,000 blood products annually to meet hospitals’ requirements for their patients.

Carter BloodCare's services include collection, processing, specialized laboratory testing, storage and distribution of blood and blood products.

While emergencies generate awareness of the need, blood is required every day to treat accident and trauma patients, mothers experiencing difficult childbirths, older adults with age-related health issues, children with anemia, people undergoing cancer treatments, and many others.

Because the need for blood never stops, donors are urged to give consistently throughout the year. Whole blood can be donated every 56 days. Plasma can be donated every four weeks. Double reds – collecting two units of red blood cells in one visit – can be donated every 112 days, and platelets can be donated every two weeks.

Donating blood, plasma or platelets with Carter BloodCare is a simple, positive way to support the entire McKinney community and help neighbors in urgent need of lifesaving transfusions.
