Leadership McKinney Taking Applications for the Class of 2013-2014 5/20/2013 - 6/21/2013 5:00 PM

Leadership McKinney is the Chamber's 10-month, award-winning leadership program based on a curriculum that offers a challenging educational experience, providing participants the opportunity to engage in dialogue with leaders and field-specific experts on relevant community issues. The objective of Leadership McKinney is to provide McKinney with a diverse group of individuals, representing all sectors of our community, who are committed to assuming a greater responsibility for the future of our city through leadership.

Applicants must:
       •  Live and/or work in McKinney.
       •  Cannot be an elected official or running for office at the time of the application
          process.
       •  Must be willing to commit the time necessary to complete the program and have
          the support of their employer.
       •  Must submit a completed application along with the $25 application fee to the
          McKinney Chamber of Commerce by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2013.

The selection committee will review applications as received. After a formal selection process, applicants will be notified in July of acceptance into the program which will begin with an evening reception on Thursday, Aug. 8.

Tuition for the program is $900 for McKinney Chamber Members; $1,000 for Not Yet Members. If selected to participate in the program, tuition is due upon acceptance and no later than Aug. 31, 2013. Tuition payment is non-refundable and late payment forfeits participation.

Scholarship Opportunities
         1. The Carolyn Corbin Leadership McKinney Scholarship.
              Carolyn Corbin, President of the Center for the 21st Century, has been
              instrumental in moving the Leadership McKinney program forward during the
              past nine years. She has impacted hundreds of leadership class members by
              guiding them to think globally.

         2. Financial support through the Leadership Alumni Network. Minimal financial
              support may be available. Download form here. Complete and submit no later
              than Friday, June 21, 2013.

A quarterly after-hours event that allows new members to showcase the services of their company or organization as well as build contacts to help grow their business. This is a great networking opportunity for new and current members. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres are served.

Reservations need to be made ONLY if you would like to have a table at the event.

This is a free event to attend (with no table) for all Chamber members.

Are you ready to become more engaged in your community? To learn more about giving back? To serve on a board?

McKinney residents can meet representatives from city and county boards and commissions, plus area nonprofits at the SERVE McKinney Open House on Thursday, June 13, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Collin Higher Education Center, located at 3452 Spur 399 (NE corner of Hwy 121 and U.S. 75) in McKinney.

This event will offer attendees the chance to learn more about each organization and their needs for volunteers. With over fifty nonprofit organizations and the boards and commissions invited, there will be countless opportunities for both the attendees and the organizations to make the perfect connection.
