New system makes development process streamlined

The City of McKinney is pleased to announce the upcoming implementation of the new land management software system EnerGov that will streamline processes for developers, improve data quality and increase public access to information from the Development Services Division. The new system will also allow for inspectors, code enforcement officers and other land use officials to update and access data in the field, ultimately providing timely and relevant data to assist management in making better decisions. EnerGov will launch October 16.

Community members will be able to access the Citizen Self Service portal from a computer, tablet or smart phone to apply for permits, request inspections, create new development cases and view real-time data on their projects.

Prior to the transition to the new software, staff will hold a series of open house sessions for developers and the public to preview the EnerGov platform. The sessions are the same so attendance at multiple sessions is not necessary unless additional exposure to the software is desired. The sessions will be located in the Dulaney Room of the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial Library, 101 E. Hunt St.

Business operations and staffing will be extremely limited in the Development Services Division, which includes Building Inspections, Code Compliance, Engineering and Planning, on October 12-13 during the final transition to EnerGov. The following services will be unavailable Octtober 12-16: scheduling new inspections, applying for new cases and permits, certificate of occupancy issuance, payment of fees, issuance of permits, responding to open records requests and other similar functions.
