I hope everyone has had a great start to their summer and you are surviving our Texas heat! As the 2018 Chair of the McKinney Young Professionals (MYP) I want to update you on all things MYP!
A good time was had by all Tuesday night at
Tupps Brewery for our “Cheers to CASA” event as it kicked off our “Christmas in July” fundraiser for
CASA of Collin County. We had wonderful food donated by
Cadillac Pizza Pub, awesome entertainment by
Philip Brumley and great raffle prizes donated by businesses all across McKinney. Thank you to all who donated and to all of the attendees who came to support the kids of CASA. Check out

American National Bank of Texas started off our fundraiser with a $1000 donation to CASA, making our total raised $3348. To reach our goal of $10,000 we need your help, and we will continue fundraising through August 1. Here is how to support the kids of CASA:
- McAlister’s Deli at 2107 Eldorado Parkway is having a “CHARITEA EVENT” for CASA on Tuesday, June 19. They will donate 20% of all sales between 5-10 pm to the kids! You don’t want to cook dinner in this Texas heat so bring your family and friends to McAlister’s, eat in or take out. This is a small way that everyone can help the kids at CASA.
- On July 26 at the Chamber’s quarterly luncheon MYP committee members will be on hand to collect donations with the swipe of your card! You can also bring gift cards or a new unwrapped children’s gift. We will be presenting the funds raised for CASA to their executive director Tricia Clifton, and with your support, I look forward to announcing our success of hitting our goal for a great organization. Register early for the luncheon – you won’t want to miss it!
- You can also provide a new unwrapped gift or a gift card anytime between now and August 1. Drop it by the Chamber office.
We are planning our next after hours event so watch for details coming soon. It is always a great time to meet other young professionals and create lasting relationships.
And finally, mark your calendar for our professional development summit on October 25. We are already working on scheduling great speakers and planning break out sessions to meet the professional development needs in your career.
